Flopcast 014: An Army of Cardboard Hasselhoffs

Kevin takes a highway to the danger zone (assuming your definition of "danger zone" is a Kenny Loggins concert), Kornflake visits the crazy dancing non-showering people at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, our latest "Chickens in the News" story takes us to Arkansas (a hotbed of chicken-themed crime, we assume), and we count down our Top 4 ½ favorite goofy old commercials. So how many licks does it take to get to the center of this podcast? Please keep the answer, and your suspiciously moist iPod, to yourself.

Show Notes

One of Kornflake's favorite acts at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival was Girlyman. Here's "Nothing Left," featuring the best (and hopefully only) shaving scene in a music video since Steve Perry did it in "Faithfully."

Even though it's not a commercial, this "One To Grow On" PSA with Justine Bateman somehow got on the Top 4 ½ list. But worry not; it's still a fun clip, and it does contain an actual commercial for Honey Comb cereal! Okay, here's Mallory...

If you were anywhere near Boston in the 1970s, you were pushed to the brink of insanity by these incessant ads for the Boston Museum of Science and the New England Aquarium...

Mr. Mouth, Mr. Mouth, Mr. Mouth...

Mr. Mouth had a rough night. Don't judge.

The Budweiser Ferret is creepy, disturbing, and creepy...

The Nestle Quik bunny plays Atari Space Invaders...

Chocolate milk and video games, kids. That's what you need right now.

A reckless maniac terrorizes the city, thanks to an unhealthy obsession with "Love Train" and Mug Root Beer...

The Cavity Creeps invade Toothopolis...

The "Where's the Beef" ladies go for a pleasant drive...

And finally, the rarely seen full-length version of the classic "Mr. Owl" Tootsie Pop commercial, with the gender-bending Mr. Cow and the Peter Lorre-inspired Mr. Fox...

But again we must ask... was the Tootsie Pop kid naked?
